Aviation regulator DGCA had on July 6 issued a show-cause notice to SpiceJet over a technical snag in the last 18 days. It said that “defects in internal security inspection and lack of adequate maintenance measures have resulted in loss of security”.
The government has given information in the Rajya Sabha on Monday in the order of complaints about the technical fault in the aircraft of the airline SpiceJet. Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said on Monday that the aviation regulator DGCA had examined 48 SpiceJet aircraft on 53 occasions between July 9 and July 13, but no major security breach was found in it. It is worth noting that recently the DGCA had also issued a show cause notice to SpiceJet.
In a written statement, Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said, “However, citing security reasons, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered SpiceJet to use the 10 identified aircraft only after confirmation from the regulator.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said that three days after issuing the notice, the regulator had started investigating SpiceJet’s planes. This investigation was completed on 13 July. During this, 48 aircraft were screened on a total of 53 occasions, in which no major significant search or security breach was found.
In its notice to SpiceJet on July 6, the regulator had said that the airline has not been successful in providing safe, efficient and reliable air services under the Aircraft Rules, 1937. The regulator had given the airline three weeks to respond to the notice. On the notice issued by DGCA, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said that the safety of passengers is paramount. In a tweet, the Union Minister said that even the smallest error that hinders security will be thoroughly investigated and corrected.
SpiceJet had also given its clarification in this matter after the news of the issue of show cause notice by DGCA came in the media. On behalf of the company, it was said that SpiceJet had successfully completed the audit for certification conducted in October last year. The audit has been done by DGCA from time to time. It was also said on behalf of the company that SpiceJet is operating its airlines in accordance with the provisions of DGCA and Civil Aviation.
