NEET-UG admit card released, students seeking some more time to prepare

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday released the admit cards for the NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) undergraduate (UG), a medical examination conducted by a section of students, dismissing the demand for deferment of the examination.

This exam is to be held on 17th July. The students demanded that they should be given some more time to prepare for NEET after the board exam. Students have also started a campaign through internet media regarding this.

Record more than 18 lakh students registered for the first time
The NTA has taken this decision when the academic session of medical colleges has already been derailed due to the Corona crisis. So it was not possible to postpone the exam. Apart from this, Joint Entrance Examination (CUET) related to admission in universities is also to be held after this examination. In such a situation, NTA decided to conduct this exam on the already announced date. This exam is special in some respects this time. For the first time, more than 18 lakh students have registered for this exam, which is a record till now.

Students now shying away from medical studies abroad
Last year around 16 lakh students had registered for this exam. The Ukraine crisis is believed to be a major reason behind this increased number of students, because due to this, the trend of students going abroad for studies every year has also decreased. Due to the Ukraine crisis, a large number of students studying there were evacuated and brought back safely. This affected the studies of the students. At the same time, there is no possibility of his return due to no improvement in the situation so far. Till now, every year a large number of students went abroad for medical studies.
