There are total 90 wards in Meerut Municipal Corporation area. Out of which 31 wards have Ganga water supply system. These wards are fully covered with water supply. Whereas in 59 wards the medium of water supply is tube wells. Of these, there are 20 wards in which 34 percent of the water line is not laid.
Meerut, Jagran Correspondent. There are total 90 wards in the Municipal Corporation area. Out of which 31 wards have Ganga water supply system. These wards are fully covered with water supply. Whereas in 59 wards the medium of water supply is tube wells. Out of these, about 20 wards are such that 34 percent of them do not have a drinking water line. 86 percent of the water demand in the city is met through tube wells. According to the wards, about 65 percent of the population is such, which is waiting for Gangajal. Kankarkheda, Ganganagar, Shastri Nagar, Jagriti Vihar, Medical Area, Major Dhyan Chand Nagar, Mohkampur to Shatabdinagar, Partapur area around Delhi Road are completely deprived of Ganga water supply.

To increase the supply of Ganga water, four underground reservoirs are ready to be commissioned soon. With their commissioning, about 50 percent area will get Ganga water supply. But for the rest, new underground reservoirs will have to be built. City water balance plan has been prepared. which has been sent to the government. In this plan, a plan has been made to ensure 100% supply of Ganga water in the city.
